Wes scores 3 in battle of the Goldie brothers as Salmon Kings beat Ice Dogs

It was an all-Goldie first period as younger brother Ash scored a shorthanded goal for Long Beach before Wes replied with two on the power play as Victoria led 2-1 at the first intermission.

David Walker, Terry Harrison and Donald Johnson gave Long Beach (9-18-0-2) a 4-3 advantage after 40 minutes. Darryl Lloyd had the goal for the Salmon Kings (12-18-0-1).

Wes completed the hat trick to tie the game early in the final period and Matt Kelly scored the winner on the power play at 9:16. Kiel McLeod – who had three assists in the match – added a shorthanded goal with 5:32 remaining.

Salmon Kings goalie Julien Ellis blocked 31 shots to even his season record at 10-10, while Brett Jaeger made 23 saves for Long Beach.

Victoria scored three times on seven power-play chances and the Ice Dogs converted one-of-eight opportunities.
