While politicos blather, Canadian captain Doan does his talking on the ice

Doan scored three goals in a span of six minutes 25 seconds in the second period to turn the game around for Canada

Canada was trailing 1-0 early in the period when Rick Nash broke out of the Canadian end on a two-on-one with Doan. He slipped the puck to Doan and the Phoenix Coyote buried the shot at 2:38.

Doan then gave Canada a 2-1 lead on the power play at 5:15 of the second period, banging in a replay after Jonathan Toews crashed the goal from the corner.

Doan got his third with an even-strength garbage goal later in the period, tapping in a rebound at 9:13 to make it 4-1.

The Canadian captain has been under fire from some political quarters back home for an alleged derogatory comment to a French-Canadian NHL official back in 2005. Doan, who denied making the remark, was cleared by the NHL at the time.

Doan also scored against Norway earlier in the tournament.
