Wild sign former North Dakota defenceman Genoway; captain led Sioux to Frozen 4

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Wild have signed former University of North Dakota defenceman Chay Genoway to an entry-level contract.

The 24-year-old Genoway, a native of Morden, Man., helped lead the Fighting Sioux to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association regular-season and playoff championships and a spot in the NCAA Frozen Four.

Genoway was a four-time All-WCHA pick and UND’s captain for the past two seasons. He had six goals and 31 assists in 36 games this season as a fifth-year senior and posted 127 points in 168 career games.
