Wild’s offensive woes may continue vs. Ward, Hurricanes

Carolina (16-13-5) at Minnesota (16-14-2) 8:00 p.m. EST

ST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) — The Minnesota Wild’s offensive
woes have the team sliding down the standings. A visit from the
Carolina Hurricanes may not help end their futility.

The Wild aim for their second win in three contests following a
six-game losing streak when they host the Hurricanes on Tuesday.

Minnesota has scored fewer than two goals seven times during a
1-6-1 stretch that dates to a 2-1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks
on December 5.

After snapping an 0-5-1 slide by forging a 4-2 victory against
the lowly New York Islanders on Friday, the Wild returned to
their losing ways the next night, dropping a 4-2 decision to the
St. Louis Blues.

Carolina, conversely, has ridden a hot streak by goalie Cam Ward
to a 3-1-1 record in its last five games.

Since returning from a groin injury on December 13, Ward has
allowed two goals or fewer in four of his last five starts,
including a 3-2 overtime victory against the Montreal Canadiens
on Sunday.
