Windsor-area group purchases AHL franchise, looks to move it there by 2008

The AHL said Monday that the team currently based in Cincinnati, Ohio, had been sold to Ice Track Corporation, which is building a 6,500-seat arena in the Windsor area.

It’s the first step in bringing the team to Canada. Ice Track Corp. will now have to meet a set of criteria laid out by the AHL’s board of governors, which includes having the arena ready for the start of the 2008-09 season.
