With Luongo ready to come back, Canucks re-assign Sanford to AHL

VANCOUVER, B.C. – With captain Roberto Luongo ready to return to the lineup following an injury layoff, the Vancouver Canucks have sent goaltender Curtis Sanford back to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League.

Luongo, who has been out of action with a groin injury since Nov. 22, was expected to be back in goal for Thursday’s home game against the Phoenix Coyotes.

Sanford, 29, was 7-8-0 with a 2.59 goals-against average and .906 save percentage in 19 games with the Canucks.

Before his injury, Luongo was 11-5-2 with a 2.17 goals-against average and five shutouts.
