World Junior Championship Day 4: USA and Sweden unleash the firepower

Four teams were in action on Day 4 of the World Junior Hockey Championship, but only two teams scored, combining for 18 goals in two lopsided matches.

Washington Capitals first-rounder Andre Burakowsky led the way with a hat trick as the Swedes pounded Norway Sunday.

Six Swedes recorded three points in the blowout, including Hurricanes property Elias Lindholm and Canadiens draft choice Sebastian Collberg.

Norway managed only 13 shots, all of which were turned aside by Swedish netminder Marcus Hogberg.

Sweden moves to 3-0-0-0 with the victory, first place in Group B.

Norway has yet to win, and must win Monday versus Switzerland have a chance of avoiding the relegation round.

Team USA stayed perfect, moving to 3-0-0-0 with their 8-0 drubbing of Team Germany Sunday.

The Americans scored eight goals in the second period and poured in six power play goals to fuel the victory.

Flyers prospect Anthony Stolarz made 15 saves to earn the shutout.

In order to clinch Group A, Team USA simply has to send their upcoming game against Canada to overtime.

Team Canada can catch the Americans only if they beat Slovakia and Team USA on New Year’s Eve.
