World must improve before women belong in Olympics

A recent article appeared in The Hockey News regarding women’s Olympic hockey and whether or not it should remain on the agenda.

I believe that, unless and until women’s hockey truly becomes competitive, the International Olympic Committee should remove it from the schedule.

Canada defeated an early round opponent 18-0. This is competitive hockey? And this was not the first time Canada has steamrolled an opponent by such a ridiculous score.

Canada has virtually no competition. The Americans are good, but even they do not compare.

Let women play in international tournaments, other than the Olympics, until other countries can reach some level of success and have at least a fighting chance.
