Youngest Staal brother remains in camp with the Hurricanes after latest cuts

RALEIGH, N.C. – Jared Staal’s dream of joining his brothers in the NHL is still alive.

The Carolina Hurricanes trimmed their training camp roster by 13 players on Saturday, but the younger brother of captain Eric Staal remained with the team.

Carolina is now carrying 31 players—including 19 forwards.

Jared Staal was drafted 49th overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in 2008 and sent to Carolina for a fifth-round pick in May. The 20-year-old winger spent the past four seasons with the OHL’s Sudbury Wolves.
