Avalanche recall blue-liner MacKenzie, reassign O'Neill to AHL

DENVER - The Colorado Avalanche have reassigned defenceman Wes O'Neill to the AHL Lake Erie Monsters and recalled defenceman Aaron MacKenzie to play Sunday against Vancouver.

If MacKenzie plays, he will be the 10th Colorado player to make his NHL debut this season, the most in a single season for the injury-plagued Avalanche.

MacKenzie was recalled earlier this season on Nov. 29, but did not appear in a game before being reassigned the next day.

The 28-year-old played for the University of Denver. He has three goals and nine assists in 52 games for Lake Erie this season.
