Avalanche rookie Duchene doubtful for season finale Sunday with torso injury

DENVER - Colorado Avalanche rookie Matt Duchene is doubtful for the regular-season finale Sunday against Los Angeles with a torso injury.

Avalanche coach Joe Sacco says Duchene suffered the injury in a centre-ice collision against Edmonton on Wednesday.

Duchene played in the first period of Friday's loss to Chicago, but left when the injury flared up again. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution and discharged Saturday morning.

The 19-year-old Duchene was the third pick in the 2009 draft and has been a big reason the Avalanche are returning to the playoffs this season.

Entering Saturday's games, he leads all NHL rookies in goals (24) and points (55).
