DENVER - The Colorado Avalanche have signed the two defencemen who teamed up to score the winning goal in the 2009 NCAA championship.

The team announced Saturday that it had signed Kevin Shattenkirk and Colby Cohen to entry-level contracts. Both will play with Colorado's American Hockey League affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters.

Shattenkirk assisted in Cohen's overtime goal when Boston University defeated Miami to capture the national championship last April. Both had been picked by the Avalanche in the 2007 draft.
