Avs forward McCormick suspended two games for high-sticking incident

TORONTO - Colorado Avalanche forward Cody McCormick was suspended for two games by the National Hockey League on Friday for a high-sticking incident during a game against Minnesota.

McCormick was assessed a double minor for high-sticking Wild forward Cal Clutterbuck midway through the second period of the Avs' 2-1 shootout victory on Thursday.

McCormick, who will forfeit US$5,618.28, will miss Saturday's game at Edmonton and Sunday's game at Vancouver.

He'll be eligible to return Tuesday when the Avalanche face the Wild in Minnesota.
