Barely swimming or caught in the net?

Joe Thornton and the rest of San Jose’s first line take way to much heat. If I recall correctly, this is New Jerseys third straight year with a first round exit. I don't hear anyone really talking about that?

It’s not like the "Burger Line" of Thornton, Marleau and Heatley wasn't putting in the effort. Watching each game in the series with Colorado, Marleau was beating opponents to the puck, Thornton was working the sideboards and throwing out chances to teammates, and Heatley was rifling pucks a million miles an hour.

Could it be that these players are not "underperforming in the playoffs," but rather the other team played really well against them?
