Bayda scores game's only goal in overtime as Penguins beat Moose 1-0

WINNIPEG - Ryan Bayda scored the only goal of the game 39 seconds into overtime and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins beat the Manitoba Moose 1-0 in American Hockey League action Thursday.

Penguins goaltender John Curry made 23 saves for the shutout. Moose (7-4-2) netminder Daren Machesney was also impressive, stopping all 21 shots he faced in regulation before surrendering Bayda's overtime goal.

Manitoba was 0-for-3 in the power play, while the Penguins (5-2-1) failed to convert on two chances with the man advantage.

Tough guy Matt McCue of Manitoba and Aaron Boogaard of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton dropped their gloves near centre ice in the first period, but their lengthy battle didn't seem to end with a clear winner.
