Big player's pads are necessary

I could not disagree more with Ken Campbell's article calling for the shrinking of skaters’ pads.

Saying skaters have "evolved into bulked up Transformers" is simply ludicrous. Skaters have modern pads, sure, but they are for safety reasons. If skaters were in fact the Transformers that Campbell says they are, why are injuries continually problems for every club?

Also, Campbell's claim that skaters have no fear when they drop to block a shot is also laughably ridiculous. Shot blocking is an art, one that takes an immeasurable amount of courage and bravery. Watch Greg Zanon play defense for Nashville, you'll see shot blocking is a true art and he pays the price for every shot he blocks.

NHL Off-Season Outlook: Anaheim Ducks
