Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews becomes host of Canadian Tour event

WINNIPEG - Jonathan Toews's next job will take him to the golf course.

The Chicago Blackhawks captain was named official host of the Canadian Tour event in his hometown of Winnipeg on Tuesday. He will be front and centre during the Canadian Tour Players Cup this summer.

"I'm really looking forward to expanding my role," Toews said in a statement. "It's an amazing Canadian Tour event with a very bright future. I love the direction it's heading in and what it can give back to the local community."

The tournament will be July 14-17 at Pine Ridge Golf Club.

During the week, two events carrying Toews's name will be held—a celebrity pro-am and children's charity tournament that raised more than $100,000 last year.
