Blackhawks claim Andrew Ebbett off waivers from Ducks

Center Andrew Ebbett has been claimed by the Chicago Blackhawks off waivers from the Anaheim Ducks.

Ebbett, who was signed by the Ducks as a college free agent in 2006, is minus-1 and hasn't scored a point in two games this season. The Michigan grad is a 5-foot-10, 160-pound scoring forward. He tallied 32 points in 48 games for Anaheim last season, splitting the season the with former American League affiliate, the Iowa Chops.

A 26-year-old native of Vernon, B.C., Ebbett is up for unrestricted free agency at the end of the season, but provides the Hawks with a cheap $487,500 cap hit in the meantime.
