Patrick Kane reached 100 points in style.

The Chicago Blackhawks right winger became the first player to hit the century mark this season thanks to a four-point effort in a 6-4 win over the Boston Bruins on Sunday afternoon. Kane’s milestone occurred when he one-timed a pass from linemate Artemi Panarin on a 2-on-1, beating Bruins goalie Jonas Gustavsson at 14:16 of the second period. The power-play goal gave Kane his second hat trick of the season.

Kane became the first player to record 100 points since 2013-14 when Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby tallied 104. Kane also became the first Blackhawk to reach 100 points since 1993-94 when Jeremy Roenick racked up 107. The 27-year-old extended his lead in the NHL scoring race to 12 points over Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn and 19 over Crosby. Both players are in action later Sunday. With one week left in the season, he is closing in on nabbing the first Art Ross Trophy by an American-born player.

With the hat trick, Kane now has 43 goals. That’s the most by a Blackhawk since left winger Tony Amonte scored 43 in 1999-2000. Kane reached the 40-goal mark in a 5-4 overtime victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Friday.

With a goal and three assists, Panarin is now up to 72 points – the most by an NHL rookie since Kane earned the same total in 2007-08.

The win for Chicago pulled them to within two points of the St. Louis Blues for second in the Central Division. The Blues are in Colorado on Sunday night. Despite a valiant comeback by the Bruins – they trailed 6-0 after Kane’s milestone marker – they missed an opportunity to leapfrog the Philadelphia Flyers for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. The Flyers have 91 points, one more than Boston, and play Crosby’s Penguins on Sunday evening.
