Blackhawks seeking eighth straight victory

Philadelphia (19-8-7) at Chicago (18-6-7), 8:30 pm EST

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Two of the hottest teams in the NHL clash

Friday when the Philadelphia Flyers open a six-game road trip

against the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center.

The Blackhawks are on an 11-2-2 run and will be after their

eighth straight victory, while the Flyers come into the contest

with an 8-1-2 mark in December.

Chicago's winning streak - its longest since an eight-game run

in January 1981 - was extended Saturday as Cristobal Huet made

30 saves in a 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks.

The Blackhawks got goals from Patrick Sharp, Jonathan Toews and

Patrick Kane, who has five goals and eight assists in his last

10 games. Andrew Ladd registered an assist to extend his points

streak to five games.

The Flyers, visiting Chicago for the first time since January

2006, kept rolling Tuesday with a 6-4 win over the Ottawa

Jeff Carter netted his league-leading 26th goal and has scored

at least once in five of his last six contests.

The Flyers have moved within two points of the Atlantic

Division-leading New York Rangers (22-12-3), but face a Chicago

team that is 10-1-4 at home this season.

NHL Off-Season Outlook: Anaheim Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks have a decent core, but there's lots of tinkering left on the horizon. They need improvement from within, as well as a boost from some new faces, if they’re going to move up the Pacific standings.
