Blue Jackets activate Filatov, the assign him to AHL affiliate

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets activated centre Nikita Filatov off injured reserve Thursday, then assigned him to the club's American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse.

Filatov, 18, the sixth pick in last summer's draft, has four goals in eight games with the Blue Jackets this season.

He became the first Blue Jackets rookie to score a hat trick when he did so against Minnesota on Jan. 10. He also became only the fourth player in franchise history to score a goal in his NHL debut against Nashville on Oct. 17.

He has been sidelined with a lower-body injury.
