Blue Jackets assign C MacKenzie to AHL affiliate in Syracuse

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets assigned centre Derek MacKenzie to the club's American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse on Wednesday.

MacKenzie was called up to help fill in for injured forwards Fredrik Modin, David Vyborny and Michael Peca. MacKenzie appeared in two games.

He has 12 goals and six assists in 30 games with Syracuse, ranking second on the club in goals and tied for third in points.
