Blue Jackets call up Savard, activate Ruth and assign him to AHL affiliate

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenceman David Savard from their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Mass., and have activated defenceman Theo Ruth off injured reserve and assigned him to Springfield.

Savard appeared in one game for the Falcons and had two penalty minutes after being sent down by the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.

Ruth had been sidelined with a sprained right knee sustained during a pre-season game.

Savard has recorded two assists and six penalty minutes in seven games with the Blue Jackets this season. He made his NHL debut against Nashville on Oct. 7 and recorded his first NHL point at Dallas on Oct. 15.
