Blue Jackets deal forward Torres to Sabres for Paetsch and draft pick

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets waited until the final hour of the NHL trade deadline on Wednesday to deal forward Raffi Torres to the Buffalo Sabres for defenceman Nathan Paetsch and a second-round draft pick.

The Blue Jackets also sent defenceman Milan Jurcina, acquired from Washington along with forward Chris Clark earlier this season, back to the Capitals for a sixth-round draft pick.

Tight up against the deadline, they also sent forward Fredrik Modin to the Los Angeles Kings for a conditional seventh-round pick.

Torres, who can become an unrestricted free agent this summer, scored 19 goals and added 12 assists for the Blue Jackets in 60 games this season.

Jurcina and Modin played in the Olympics for Slovakia and Sweden, respectively.
