Blue Jackets hope to end road slide

Columbus (14-14-3) at Dallas (12-14-4), 8:30 p.m. EST

DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have enjoyed

playing on their home-ice recently. Unfortunately, that success

has not translated to the road.

Columbus hopes to snap a five-game road losing streak when it

visits the Dallas Stars on Thursday.

The Blue Jackets have been outscored, 19-9, during their skid.

They have not won away from home since a 2-0 victory at Atlanta

on November 22.

Columbus has been just the opposite at the Nationwide Arena,

where it has won five consecutive contests.

Rookie goaltender Steve Mason stopped 47 shots and R.J. Umberger

scored at 2:55 of overtime as the Blue Jackets posted a 2-1

victory over the NHL-best San Jose Sharks on Wednesday.

Loui Eriksson scored twice, including the game-winner at 3:39 of

overtime as Dallas won, 2-1, against the Phoenix Coyotes on

Tuesday.

The contest marked the first game since the Stars announced that

they would not welcome back Sean Avery following his six-game

suspension for making crude comments about his ex-girlfriends.

Columbus won the first meeting in overtime, 5-4, on October 10.
