COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets placed forward Rick Nash on injured reserve Monday and recalled forward Derek MacKenzie from Syracuse of the American Hockey League.

Nash, who leads the team with 17 goals and 22 assists in 40 games, is day-to-day with a lower body injury. The move is retroactive to Jan. 6, leaving him eligible to come off the IR on Wednesday. He was named a Western Conference all-star last week.

MacKenzie, 27, has eight goals and 10 assists in 23 games with the Crunch this season.

He has two goals and two assists with 28 penalty minutes in 45 career NHL games with Columbus and Atlanta.

The Blue Jackets host the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday.
