Blueshirts' Lundqvist on his game with brilliant stop on Caps' Brouwer

The New York Rangers got a pair of first-period goals from Chris Kreider to jump out to a lead on Washington in Game 6 of their second-round series Sunday, but the goaltending of star Henrik Lundqvist – including his stunning stop on Troy Brouwer – was a big factor for the Blueshirts as well.

While teammate Chris Kreider was scoring goals early and late in the opening period of Sunday's Game 6 against Washington, Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist was holding up his end of the battle, making a number of tremendous saves – including one on Capitals winger Troy Brouwer that looked like a sure goal.

The Blueshirts were up 1-0 late in the first period at Verizon Center when Washington moved into New York's zone with the puck; Caps winger Jason Chimera took the first shot on Lundqvist, but it was his incredible stop on Brouwer on the rebound that had jaws dropping:

Lundqvist did surrender a goal to Chimera 28 seconds into the second frame to cut the Rangers' lead to 2-1, but the score could've been tied – or worse – for the Blueshirts were it not for their star netminder. And with the Capitals outshooting New York 13-3 to start the second period, it looks like they'll be leaning on him for the rest of the game.
