Brampton Beast give fans new hope with ‘Star Wars Night’

The ECHL’s Brampton Beast have signed Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and Boba Fett, or at least what the jerseys for their Friday ‘Star Wars Night’ will say. Beast players will don Star Wars themed jerseys that bear the names of characters from the movies for Friday’s game against Wichita.

Friday night in Brampton, get ready to be taken to a galaxy far, far away. To get the weekend started right, the ECHL’s Beast are hosting a ‘Star Wars Night’ which will feature their players skating around in custom jerseys that feature prominent characters from the original trilogy. Not only will the jerseys pay tribute to the sci-fi series, so will the names on the back of each sweater. From Luke Skywalker all the way down to Emperor Palpatine, the Beast players held a character draft in order to decide which player would get to wear the name of their favorite character from Star Wars on their jersey. You have to respect Brampton winger Chad Painchaud for selecting Jar Jar Binks without being forced. Taking one for the team with that choice.

Here’s a better look at both the front and back of the jerseys below:

Star Wars night isn’t just about what the Beast players will be wearing during the game, though. Before the game begins, Darth Vader himself will drop the puck for the ceremonial opening faceoff and throughout the game characters from the movie will be milling about the Powerade Centre. Following Brampton’s game against the Wichita Thunder, there is a live auction scheduled for fans to bid on each of the game worn sweaters for the chance to take them home. Hopefully Brampton can use the force to pick up a win Friday night, too. As of Thursday, they're the third worst team in the ECHL with 38 points in 53 games.
