Bridgestone Arena will remain the name of Nashville's arena through 2019

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Bridgestone Arena will remain the name of Nashville's downtown arena through 2019.

The Nashville Predators and Bridgestone Americas Inc. announced Thursday a five-year extension of naming rights for the arena.

Besides Predators' games, the arena is used for the annual Country Music Association awards show, basketball tournaments, concerts and other events.

It opened in 1996 as the Nashville Arena, then it was renamed the Gaylord Entertainment Center and Sommet Center.

Bridgestone Americas is based in Nashville.
