Briere, Bryzgalov and Smith named the NHL's three stars of the week

NEW YORK - Philadelphia Flyers centre Daniel Briere was named the NHL's first star of the week on Monday after leading all scorers with eight points in three games.

Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov was given the second star while Dallas Stars netminder Mike Smith was the third.

Briere scored five goals, including two game-winners, as the Flyers posted a 2-0-1 record on the week.

Bryzgalov was claimed on waivers by the Coyotes on Nov. 17 and the move paid off quickly. He was 3-0-0 last week with a 1.62 goals-against average and .938 save percentage.

Smith also posted a 3-0-0 record last week. He had a 1.00 GAA and .963 save percentage.
