Bruins seek more success at home vs. Hurricanes

Carolina (21-16-5) at Boston (30-7-4), 1:00 p.m. EST

BOSTON (Ticker) -- Coming off a much-needed victory, the Boston

Bruins are primed to continue their winning ways at the TD

Banknorth Garden.

The Bruins seek their 16th win in their last 18 home games when

they host the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.

After the Bruins extended their home run to 14 games with a 4-2

win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on January 1, they fell in

consecutive contests to the Buffalo Sabres and Minnesota Wild.

However, they regained their momentum with a 6-4 win over the

Ottawa Senators on Thursday and improved to 15-3-1 in Boston.

Boston has enjoyed success in both matchups against the

Hurricanes, posting a 4-2 win on December 20 at home, and

notching another victory by the same score a week later in

Raleigh, North Carolina.

All-Star netminder Tim Thomas has won five of his last six at

home and has a 1.92 goals-against average in consecutive

victories over Carolina.

The Hurricanes are coming off a 4-2 setback against the Florida

Panthers on Thursday. With that loss, their season-high,

four-game winning streak was halted.

Carolina is 9-7-4 on the road and will play six of its next

seven games away from home.
