Buck gets game-winner to lead Aeros to 3-1 victory over Hamilton Bulldogs

HAMILTON - Brandon Buck scored the winning goal Tuesday to lead the Houston Aeros to a 3-1 victory over the Hamilton Bulldogs in American Hockey League action.

The game was tied through two periods before Buck picked off a Bulldogs pass attempt and fired a wrist shot past Curtis Sanford just 17 seconds into the third period.

The Aeros sealed the win in front of a crowd of 2,407 fans at Copps Coliseum with an empty-net goal from Warren Peters at 19:52.

The Bulldogs (16-8-4) opened scoring at 8:48 of the second period when Andreas Engqvist sent a pass to Alexander Avtsin, who skated into the slot before firing a shot that beat Houston goaltender Matt Hackett.

The Aeros (16-11-3) tied the game 1-1 at 9:23 of second when Robbie Earl took a pass from Casey Wellman on a two-on-one, and one-timed a shot over Sanford.

Hackett stopped 24 shots for the Aeros, while Sanford made 21 saves.

The Bulldogs open a five-game road trip Friday against the Barons at Oklahoma City.
