Bulldogs get back in their series with the Griffins, win 5-4

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Ryan Russell and Ryan White each had a goal and an assist for Hamilton as the Bulldogs won 5-4 on Monday to get back in their series with Grand Rapids.

The Griffins still leads the best-of-seven AHL North Division semifinal 2-1.

Game 4 goes Wednesday in Grand Rapids.

Marc Denis made 27 saves for Hamilton in the win, while Jimmy Howard stopped 21 shots for Grand Rapids.

Kyle Chipchura, Yannick Lehoux and Ben Maxwell also scored for the Bulldogs.

Hamilton led 3-2 going into the third before Russell added to the lead with his first of the series.

Ville Leino cut the deficit to 4-3 on the power play before White scored just under three minutes to go to restore the Bulldogs' two-goal lead.

Justin Abdelkader replied for the Griffins just 25 second later, but Grand Rapids would get no closer.

Abdelkader and Brian Lashoff each had a goal and an assist for the Griffins while Darren Haydar added three assists.

Former-NHLer Darren McCarty also scored for Grand Rapids.
