Canadiens aim for fourth straight win on long homestand

New Jersey (13-8-2) at Montreal (15-6-4), 7:00 pm EST

MONTREAL (Ticker) -- The Montreal Canadiens are enjoying this

homestand.

The Canadiens seek their fourth consecutive victory on Saturday

when they host the New Jersey Devils.

Montreal is in the midst of a seven-game homestand and the first

three contests went quite well. In their most recent contest,

the Canadiens received some help from an unlikely source.

The fourth line of Steve Begin, Maxim Lapierre and enforcer

Georges Laraque combined for two goals and four assists as the

Canadiens rolled to a 6-2 triumph over the New York Rangers on

Thursday.

"We haven't won three games in a row since the beginning of the

year, so it was really important in the standings," Lapierre

said. "Now we're only three points behind the Rangers, and

they're first in our conference."

Rookie Matt D'Agostini added a goal and an assist and Andrei

Kostitsyn, Alex Tanguay and Robert Lang also scored for

Montreal, which improved to 3-0-2 in their last five home

contests.

The Devils are concluding a fairly successful five-game road

trip. Over its first four stops, New Jersey has gone 3-1-0.

Patrick Elias was the team's most recent hero, tying the game

with 90 seconds remaining in regulation and scoring again 2:46

into overtime as the Devils recorded a 3-2 triumph over the

Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday.
