MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens acquired goaltender Drew MacIntyre from the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for defenceman Brett Festerling in a minor league deal. The Canadiens will assign MacIntyre to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL.

The Bulldogs needed goaltending help with starter Curtis Sanford out with a suspected back injury. MacIntyre, 27, who played two games for the Vancouver Canucks in 2007-08, was 12-5-1 with a 2.91 goals-against average in 21 games for the AHL Chicago Wolves this season.

Festerling was also listed as day to day with a back problem. He was acquired by Montreal from Anaheim on Dec. 31 for Maxim Lapierre.
