Canadiens return Chipchura, Stewart to Hamilton as injured players return

MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens sent forwards Kyle Chipchura and Gregory Stewart back to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL on Thursday as injured players began to return to the NHL club.

Captain Saku Koivu came back from a sprained ankle for a 5-2 loss in New Jersey on Wednesday night and winger Christopher Higgins is expected back from a shoulder injury after the all-star break.

Chipchura, the Bulldogs captain, was called up on Jan. 1. He had two assists in eight NHL games.

Stewart had one assist in three games after his call-up on Jan. 15.
