Canadiens sign prospect Olivier Fortier to three-year contract

MONTREAL - Prospect Olivier Fortier has signed a three-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens.

Fortier, the captain of the Rimouski Oceanic who was named top defensive forward of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League last season, was selected 65th overall by Montreal in the 2007 draft.

The five-foot-10 182-pound centre has eight goals and 27 assists in 35 games this season. He returned Feb. 11 after missing 40 games with a knee injury.
