Canucks goalie Luongo receives Mark Messier leadership award

The award, given for leadership skills on and off the ice, was to be presented to Luongo before Wednesday night's home game against Nashville. "Giving back to the community is something that I really pride myself in," Luongo said. "The impact that we as professional hockey players can have when visiting a sick child or signing an autograph is significant and seeing a person's reaction, knowing that we have made a difference, is the best reward that we can get."

Luongo earned his league-leading 43rd win of the season as the Canucks shut out Nashville 2-0 on Wednesday.

Luongo has a 43-20-5 record with four shutouts and a 2.27 goals-against average.
