Canucks No. 1 leaves warmup early, Schneider gets unexpected start

VANCOUVER - Cory Schneider was a surprise starter for the Vancouver Canucks on Friday night.

Schneider started in goal against the Dallas Stars after scheduled starter Roberto Luongo left the pre-game warmup early.

Luongo skated off the ice with about four minutes remaining in the warmup. Schneider went between the pipes at the start of the game while Luongo took his place on the bench as the backup.

It was Schneider's second straight start. He earned a shutout in Vancouver's 1-0 win over Colorado on Wednesday.
