ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals officially welcomed 2024 first-round draft pick Terik Parascak to the organization on Friday, signing him to his three-year, entry-level contract.
Parascak's deal carries an average annual value of $975,000.
Washington selected Parascak 17th overall in this year's draft, taking him a bit earlier than expected. The 18-year-old is coming off a stellar rookie season in the WHL with the Prince George Cougars, where he picked up 43 goals and 62 assists for 105 points in 68 games.
Parascak has come a long way, having worked on his skating and fundamentals of his game at prep school before making the WHL jump last year. He's a good playmaker and thinks the game well, and can also score thanks to a strong shot and a knack for the net.
The 6-foot, 176-pound forward has been at Capitals development camp this week, working on his skating and positional play while showcasing his offensive instincts.
Parascak was ranked third among North American skaters available in this year's draft by NHL Central Scouting.
