Capitals sign defenceman Shaone Morrisonn to one-year deal

ARLINGTON, Va. - Washington Capitals defenceman Shaone Morrisonn was awarded a one-year contract in arbitration worth US$1.975 million on Saturday.

The 25-year-old played his third full season with the team in 2007-08, totalling 10 points and 63 penalty minutes in 76 games. He also played in the Capitals' playoff series against the Flyers.

The Vancouver native was acquired from Boston in 2004.
