Carolina Hurricanes send injured captain Rod Brind'Amour home early

RALEIGH, N.C. - Carolina captain Rod Brind'Amour is coming back from the Hurricanes' West Coast trip early due to a lower-body injury.

The Hurricanes said Wednesday that Brind'Amour would not play Thursday night at San Jose. Carolina coach Paul Maurice said Brind'Amour was slowed by a "nagging lower-body issue that he's been dealing with for a while."

The Hurricanes also said they would recall forward Jakub Petruzalek from Albany of the AHL and would place forward Scott Walker on the injured list because of an upper-body injury.
