Chris Mueller scores twice to lead Admirals to 6-2 win over Moose

WINNIPEG - Chris Mueller had two goals and an assist for Milwaukee as the Admirals beat the Manitoba Moose 6-2 in American Hockey League action Saturday.

Colin Wilson, with a goal and three assists, while Mike Santorelli, Robert Dietrich and Peter Olvecky also scored for Milwaukee (24-13-6).

Marco Rosa and Sergei Shirokov replied for Winnipeg (23-17-5).

Santorelli buried a rebound on the power play at 17:18 of the first for a 1-0 Milwaukee lead. The Admirals scored again less than a minute later when Dietrich corralled a pass from Mueller and blasted a shot from the point over Moose netminder Cory Schneider's left shoulder.

Olvecky's centring attempt on a 2-on-1 bounced off a Moose defender early in the second as the Admirals took a 3-0 lead.

Rosa got the Moose on the board when he intercepted a failed shorthanded clearing attempt before shelving a wrister over Chet Pickard at 13:50 of the second.

Late in the second, Mueller banged a puck home to give Milwaukee a 4-1 lead after two.

The Moose got back to within 4-2 at 7:14 of the third when a Shirokov deflection squeaked through Pickard's pads.

Just 11 seconds later, Mueller scored his second of the game to restore the three-goal lead.

Santorelli rounded out the scoring at 17:23.

Pickard made 21 saves for the win, while Schneider finished with 23 saves in defeat.
