The Anaheim Ducks have announced they will be without leading goal-scorer Corey Perry for 3-4 weeks after he sustained a knee sprain.

It’s yet another in a long list of injuries for the Ducks, who have been bitten hard by the injury bug this season. With off-season signing Dany Heatley already on the shelf, the Ducks are going to need to find some help to boost their offense.

“The day after it was pretty stiff,” Perry said via the Ducks Twitter account. “But it’s feeling better every day. We’re thankful it’s only a sprain and not a tear.”

The injury occurred midway through the first period of Anaheim’s game last Friday night in Minnesota. After picking up the puck in the neutral zone, Perry was streaking into the zone when he was caught by a Keith Ballard hip check and dropped to the ice.

Perry left the ice with some help and missed the Ducks tilt with the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday. With 14 goals and 22 points in 23 games, the 29-year-old winger is the second highest scoring Duck, tied with Ryan Kesler.

If Perry misses a full four weeks, he may be sidelined from 12 to 14 games.
