Coyotes lose star winger Doan for 2-3 weeks with back injury

Star winger Shane Doan will be out two to three weeks with a back injury. The 30-year-old met with Dr. Robert Watkins, a back specialist, in Los Angeles on Friday it was determined that the injury will not require surgery.

The Coyotes also announced Friday that defenceman Nick Boynton has a bruised foot and is day to day. Boynton suffered the injury in the third period Thursday night's game against the Dallas Stars when he blocked a shot.

Doan and Boynton join top scorer Mike Comrie (broken foot), centre Steven Reinprecht (fractured collar bone) and centre Mike Ricci (neck) on the sidelines.
