Crosby, Penguins try to get back on track

Florida (16-16-5) at Pittsburgh (19-15-4), 1:00 pm EST

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- For captain Sidney Crosby and the

Pittsburgh Penguins, the new year started about as well as the

last one ended.

Crosby and the Penguins will attempt to snap a three-game skid

Saturday afternoon, when they face the Florida Panthers.

Pittsburgh, which went 5-8-1 in December, suffered a 4-2 setback

to the Boston Bruins on Thursday. Once again, Crosby was held

without a goal.

Since posting his first career hat trick on November 29, the

21-year-old Crosby has scored just two goals in 15 games. He

has been held without a point in 12 contests this season,

surpassing his total from the 2007-08 campaign.

"Sid the Kid" still has been the most productive Penguin outside

of Evgeni Malkin, who leads the league with 45 assists and 60

points. Crosby, who has recorded 50 points, is tied with Malkin

for the team lead in goals with 15.

Outside of the two superstars, Pittsburgh does not have a player

with 30 points.

The Panthers also are hoping to end a losing streak, falling in

their last four contests - including Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the

New York Islanders.
