Crosby, Penguins trying to end woes

Atlanta (13-22-5) at Pittsburgh (19-17-4), 7:30 pm EST

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Captain Sidney Crosby's scoring

difficulties are starting to spread to the rest of his team.

Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins hope to end a season-long,

five-game losing streak and get their offense untracked when

they face the Atlanta Thrashers on Tuesday.

Last season's Eastern Conference champions, the Penguins have

lost 11 of their last 15 contests and fallen into ninth place in

the conference standings.

Pittsburgh's offense has been the main reason for concern,

netting just eight goals over its previous nine contests. The

Penguins suffered a 4-0 setback to the New York Rangers on

Monday.

The 21-year-old Crosby is pointless with a minus-4 rating over

the previous three contests and has recorded just two goals over

his last 17 games. The superstar has 15 goals and 50 points on

the season.

The Thrashers have lost five of their previous six contests,

including a 4-1 setback to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday.
