Dallas Stars defenceman Trevor Daley knocked out of game in 1st period

DALLAS - Stars defenceman Trevor Daley left Thursday night's game against the Los Angeles Kings less than three minutes in after hitting the boards headfirst.

Daley was trying to take possession of the puck behind Dallas' net when he was checked from behind by Kings forward Raitis Ivanans. Daley's head struck the end boards and he was down for several minutes before being helped off the ice.

The Stars said Daley was out for the rest of the game and would be evaluated on Friday.

Ivanans received a roughing penalty, and Daley's teammate Steve Begin was also sent off for roughing after he jumped on Ivanans.
