Dallas Stars left-winger Loui Eriksson named NHL first star of week

NEW YORK - Dallas Stars left-winger Loui Eriksson was named NHL first star of the week Monday after scoring six goals in three games last week.

Philadelphia Flyers centre Jeff Carter was the second star and New Jersey Devils left-winger Patrik Elias was the third star.

Eriksson helped the Stars earn five of a possible six points last week. He scored twice in a 2-1 overtime victory over the Phoenix Coyotes last Tuesday, notched his first career hat trick in a 6-5 shootout win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday and had a goal in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators last Saturday.

Carter recorded seven points (4-3) in four games last week. Elias led all scorers over the stretch with eight points (3-5) and extended his point streak to 10 games.
