Darren Haydar's empty-netter helps Griffins edge Marlies 3-2

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Darren Haydar's empty-netter in the final minute of the game helped the Grand Rapids Griffins edge the Toronto Marlies 3-2 in AHL action Saturday.

Down 2-1 near the end of the third, Toronto pulled goaltender Adam Munro when Haydar scored. Marlies forward Bates Battaglia made it 3-2 with 20 seconds to go, but it was too late for Toronto (35-27-2-6).

Ville Leino and Darren Helm also scored second period goals for the Griffins, who improved to 40-18-6-6.

Jiri Tlusty had Toronto's other goal.

Griffins goaltender Daniel Larsson made 24 saves for the win, while at the other end Munro stopped 35 shots.
